The labour union said except the Federal Government rescinds its decision to hand over the privatized electricity facilities to new investors on November 1, 2013.
The General Secretary, NUEE, Comrade Joe Ajearo, gave the directive in Kaduna during the prayer sessions organized by the union from Tuesday to Thursday as part of the ongoing sensitization tour by the leadership of the union to enlighten its members to wait for the last minute order from the National Secretariat of the union before taking any decision on October 31, 2013 as the planned expiry date of the existence of PHCN in Nigeria.
According to him, “We appeal to all electricity workers in the country to remain law- abiding and wait for the last minute directive from the leadership of the union by October 31, 2013 before taking any action as the union waits the settling of all labour issues before the expiring date to hand over the privatized PHCN facilities to new investors.
“We urge all NUEE members in Kaduna State to expect the settling of all labour issues, especially the payment of workers’ pensions to the Pension Funds Administrators (PFAs), capturing of all casuals and payment of all entitlement of workers in PHCN and all other agreements reached with the workers by October 31, 2013,” he added.
While challenging the Minister of information, Mr. Labaran Maku, to tell Nigerians the much publicized over N400billion which he said Government has paid to electricity workers in the country, Ajaero urged the Minister to provide proofs.
“We challenge Maku to confront all the 18 PFAs used by PHCN on why the workers till date have not receive their alerts of the pensions”, he added.
“NUEE will not take responsibility for what happen in the power sector because we cannot work, for instance in Julius Berbbee Company Plc and be directed by the Federal Government to receive salary in SRABERT company Plc,” he averred.
